How did PWR start? PWR is an outgrowth of a discussion in spring 2002 among Founders Nicole Galli, Janine DiLauro and Susan Baren-Pearson, and PWR adviser, Mary Beth Pratt. The three PWR Founders were all at places in their careers where they desired to interact on a professional level with like-minded women who were at similar stages in their careers. They recognized the void in professional organizations: there were no formal or informal opportunities that regularly brought together professional women contemporaries for the sole purpose of networking. There were no forums where professional development is discussed in the context of an individual’s development initiatives, and the idea to create such a forum was born. Who are our founders? Janine currently holds the position of Vice President at Wachovia working in Risk Management Services for Commercial Lending. Prior to that, Janine held the position of Operational Risk Specialist at Risk Management Association. Previously, she was Director of Research at Grant Thornton LLP and Vice President with an international investment banking Firm. Janine holds a Master's Degree in Finance from St. Joseph's University. Janine opened and co-owned Molletta, an upscale clothing store in Old City. Nicole D. Galli is Partner in the Philadelphia office of Pepper Hamilton LLP, a multi practice law firm. She focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation and counseling, as well as representing clients in anti-trust, consumer fraud, class action, and other complex commercial matters. Nicole is co-chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Women in the Profession Committee; first vice president of the Pennsylvania Women's Campaign Fund; a member of the Board of Directors of The Career Wardrobe and co-chair of its Campaign Leadership Committee; a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Women in the Profession Committee; serves on a number of WomensWay committees; and a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners.
